Boat Weekend, Newburyport, MA ✅
It needs to be said – the Treehouse Weekend was all about relaxing. It was a cozy weekend in the trees, just chilling. And it was awesome. Our Newburyport Boat Weekend was go-Go-GO! Dinner, shopping, boating, sunning by the pool, dancing on the docks . . . We. Didn’t. Stop.
And it was glorious.
It was the type of weekend that felt like a mini-vacation. The type where you breathe in the salty air and sigh to the heavens because summer is finally here.
So what did we do?
We hit the road on Friday around 3:30 and arrived in Newburyport about an hour later. We settled in nicely on the boat and threw together some appetizers to go along with our cocktails. The Tuscan Sea Grill & Bar is just down the road, so we decided dinner there would be perfect. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was amazing. We were having such a great time that we decided to have dessert martinis. The back of the restaurant has a beautiful deck with couches and firepits so we planted ourselves there and enjoyed them. We had a wonderful server who looked remarkably like Mila Kunis. Her name was Cassandra and if you ever find yourself at Tuscan Sea Grill, please tell her we said hi!
Once back at the boat and listening to music, The Bee Gees came on. There may or may not have been four women scrambling for the dock, trying to recollect how to do The Hustle. It wasn’t a complete success, but fortunately no one ended up in the water. If anyone remembers how to do it, we’re all ears! There also may have been a sing-along to Prince’s 1999 on the bow of the boat. Rumor has it, it was recorded on Insta . . . and quickly deleted the next morning. For those of you who are early risers and may have caught it, we sincerely apologize.
Shopping Adventures
Saturday, Sarah had to leave after breakfast for her family vacation. We did toy with the idea of informing her family that she had been tragically lost at sea, but given the fact we never left the dock, we thought it would be a hard sell.
Maureen, feeling a little worse for wear 🥴, napped for about an hour before rallying. We headed downtown for a fabulous lunch at the Black Cow and then hit some shops. Darlene and I would have scored some beautiful linen shirts if I hadn’t been accosted by an elderly shopkeeper. Literally, the woman smacked my hand (not once, not twice, but three times 😳) because I was removing a shirt from a hanger to purchase. NOTE TO SELF: Do NOT go back to Tina’s European Fashions.
We got back to the boat late afternoon. Darlene and I sunned ourselves on the bow of the boat while Maureen napped down in the cabin (Nap #2 of the day….. not that anyone’s counting. 😜)
We had a much more laid back Saturday night. There was no Bee Gees, no Hustle, and definitely no Prince. Just a few snacks and maybe another cocktail or two.
Sunday, my husband joined us to take us out on the boat. What a guy! We spent a few hours out on the water, had some lunch, and then went back to the Club to hang out by the pool for a bit.
All in all, it was a great weekend, full of singing, dancing, sunning, swimming, napping (well, one of us) laughing, great food, and great drinks. But mostly, and what we can always count on, great friendship. ❤️

Great little read! Write that novel Kathleen-it is in you waiting to come out for a longer read by the beach. You are collecting great material! That story of 4 friends in New England and how their friendship deepens as their lives take those twists and turns….then pick your two best pictures for front and back book covers and one for each chapter!

I love that idea Terri! Darlene and I, several years ago, co-authored a middle grade novel. We actually received some nibbles from literary agents and publishing houses before ~ sigh ~ life got in the way. We plan on starting to submit it again. In the mean time, here we all are……. and I LOVE your idea for the next novel. Write what you know, right? Stay tuned!
